Over the course of seven years, I wrote hundreds of sales emails for Wine Access, the country’s leading direct-to-consumer wine e-commerce brand. Email marketing was the primary channel of wine retail, so a premium was placed on content and storytelling that could drive revenue.

I foregrounded narrative in the multiple 500-word content offers I crafted each week, connecting customers to the stories, places, people behind the wines we sold. By writing in an authoritative but also highly personal voice—bringing damp cellars, breezy vineyards, and the intricacies of the wine trade to life—I helped win the trust and loyalty of customers. In 2023, Wirecutter named Wine Access one of the two best wine clubs in the country.
